Originally founded in 1981, America West Airlines was previously one of the top ten major airlines in the United States. Formerly based in Tempe, Arizona, American West Airlines is now part of the US Airways Group. The airline was the second largest low-cost carrier based in the United States and supplied service to nearly 100 destinations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The merge of America West Airlines with the US Airways Group was initiated in 2005-now operating under the US Airways brand name.

Today all American West aircrafts have been rebranded to US Airways along with the majority of the signage at airports. Only some seating covers, flight attendant uniforms and bulkheads still reflect the America West branding or logos. The airlines website has also been changed from www.americawest.com to www.usairways.com.
