Avianca offers 4 easy options for check-in:

Airport Counter Check-in: Check-in for your flight in the most conventional manner by stopping by the Avianca counter at the airport.

Next Day or Advance Check-in: This option allows you to save time and check-in for your flight up to 24 hours in advance of your departure time via the internet. To check-in online, visit Avianca’s online check-in page. After checking-in, you can print out your boarding pass and proceed directly to the security gates if you aren’t checking any baggage. If you have to check baggage be sure to stop by the Avianca counter.

Telephone Check-in: As an alternative to online check-in, travelers with an e-ticket can also check-in by telephone. Visit Avianca’s check-in page for details.

Electronic Kiosk Check-in: For those who want to bypass the lines at the counter on busy travel days, Avianca offers check-in services for passengers via electronic kiosks. Typically, these kiosks contain Avianca signage on them and are located near the Avianca counter.

Checked Luggage Restrictions for Avianca

For those traveling Economy Class (called “Tourist Class” on Avianca) you will be allowed 1-2 items of checked baggage, not exceeding 20-23 kg per piece and with dimensions (L + W + H) not totaling more than 157 cm per piece. Economy Class baggage allowance varies based on your destination. Carry-On Baggage Restrictions for Avianca

You are allowed to carry 1 piece of baggage with you on the flight at no extra charge. The maximum weight for carry-on baggage must not exceed 10 kg, with a total dimension (L + W + H) of 115 cm.

Avianca Seating Options

Avianca offers 2 options for seating on their flights:

Economy Class (called “Tourist Class” on Avianca)

Economy class seating on Avianca has a distance of up to 34 inches between seats. Seat features vary considerably between aircraft but on the newer Airbus planes on longer flights, seat-back screens and audio channels are provided.

Business Class

Business class seating on Avianca has a distance of up to 56 inches between seats. Seat features vary, but on the newer aircraft they may be shell style seats with added privacy, have seat-back screens and audio channels for entertainment, and recline further than the Economy class seats.

Traveling with Pets on Avianca

Flying with your pets can be a safe and fun experience if airline rules and regulations are followed. Live pets can only be transported to countries where the regulations of the country permit, and subject to the terms and conditions specified by that country. Pets can often travel on flights with you in the cabin, in the hold as checked baggage, or in the hold, as cargo.

Avianca In-flight Service, Beverages, and Meals

Dependant on the flight, and type of aircraft, Avianca offers a wide variety of food, beverage and entertainment options.

Economy class (also known as Tourist Class) offers entertainment that varies depending on your flight. Flights using the Airbus aircraft have a number of video, audio and games channels and seat-back screens, whereas the Boeing flights show movies on overhead screens. Meals are provided, with two choices of main course and a typical Colombian dessert, and special meals can be ordered in advance. A selection of beverages is available.

Business Class offers entertainment on larger screens than in Economy class. More personal screens are available. A glass of champagne is provided before take-off, and the menus are expertly created to take into account the needs of air passengers. A variety of menu options are available, along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including vintage wines. After dinner drinks are also provided.

Avianca Fleet

Avianca operates a fleet consisting mainly of Airbus airplanes. Their fleet consists of Airbus A319, A320 and A330, Boeing B757 and B767, McDonnell Douglas MD-83 and Fokker 50 and Fokker 100 aircraft.

Avianca Lounges

Avianca Lounges are fully operational in Bogota, Quito and 7 other cities in Colombia and Ecuador.

Avianca Lounge access is available to Business Class passengers and some frequent flyer members.
