Continental AirlinesThe airline got its start in the early 1930’s as a mail carrier that also flew passengers to boost the bottom line, and was renamed Continental Airlines in 1937 when the company began expanding its routes and shifting focus to passenger service. At the time of its merger with United, Continental Airlines was headquartered in Chicago, with hubs in Cleveland, Houston, Newark, and Guam. Most of Continental’s routes continue to be served by United Airlines now that the two carriers have merged. |
