In November 2006 Emirates signed a deal with the mobile communications firm AeroMobile. Now Emirates onboard passengers can use their mobile phones to call or text message people on the ground. Emirates is the first Airline to confirm such a deal. From early January 2007 onwards passengers can use their mobile phone on select Boeing 777 flights.
Winning the award for best in-flight entertainment in 2006 (Skytrax), was due to the Airlines ICE (information communication entertainment) system, with their largest selling feature offering over 500 channels of movies, television and music.
