KLM Ticketing and Check-in Information

KLM offers 5 easy options for check-in:

Airport Counter Check-in: Check-in for your flight in the most conventional manner by stopping by the KLM counter at the airport.

Next Day or Advance Check-in: This option allows you to save time and check-in for your flight up to 24 hours in advance of your departure time via the internet. To check-in online, visit KLM’s online check-in page. After checking-in, you can print out your boarding pass and proceed directly to the security gates if you aren’t checking any baggage. If you have to check baggage be sure to stop by the KLM counter. This service is not available for all flights.

Telephone Check-in: If you are unable to check-in online and you are departing from the Netherlands or the United Kingdom you can use the telephone check-in service. Visit KLM’s telephone check-in page for details.

Mobile phone Check-in: if you have a smartphone or mobile phone with internet access you can use it to check in for some flights. Visit KLM’s mobile phone check-in page for details.

Electronic Kiosk Check-in: For those who want to bypass the lines at the counter on busy travel days, KLM offers check-in services for passengers via electronic kiosks. Typically, these kiosks contain KLM signage on them and are located near the KLM counter. This service is not available at all airports.

KLM Baggage Information & Restrictions

Checked Luggage Restrictions for KLM

For those traveling Economy Class you will be allowed 1-2 items of checked baggage, not exceeding 20-23 kg per piece and with dimensions (L + W + H) not totaling more than 158 cm. Economy Class baggage allowance varies based on your destination. If you are traveling with an infant, you are entitled to one further item of checked baggage not exceeding 10 kg, and a fully collapsible stroller.

Carry-On Baggage Restrictions for KLM

If you are traveling Economy Class you are allowed to carry 1 piece of baggage with you on the flight at no extra charge. The maximum weight for carry-on baggage must not exceed 12 kg, with a total dimension (L + W + H) of 115 cm.

If you are traveling World Business Class or KLM Europe Select you are allowed to carry 2 pieces of baggage with you on the flight at no extra charge. The first piece must not exceed total dimensions (L + W + H) of 115 cm and the other 100 cm. The combined weight of the two items must not exceed 18 kg.

If you are traveling with an infant, you are entitled to an additional 10 kg of weight in your carry-on baggage, in a bag with total dimension (L + W + H) not exceeding 115 cm, regardless of class.

KLM Special Luggage Requirements

KLM Seating Options

KLM offers 3 options for seating on their flights:

Economy Class

Economy class seating on KLM has a distance of 30-32 inches between seats as standard but seats with extra legroom can be purchased for many flights. Seats on some intercontinental flights have telephones, as well as individual TV screens for the interactive entertainment system.

European Business Class (known as “KLM Europe Select”)

This is the equivalent of Business Class for European flights. The seats have more legroom than those in Economy Class. There are no telephones or personal entertainment screens on short flights.

World Business Class

Seats in World Business class on KLM are 190 cm long and recline to 175 degrees. They also have privacy screens. All seats in World Business Class have telephones and laptop points, as well as individual TV screens for the interactive entertainment system.

Traveling with Pets on KLM

Flying with your pets can be a safe and fun experience if airline rules and regulations are followed. Live pets can only be transported to countries where the regulations of the country permit, and subject to the terms and conditions specified by that country. KLM In-flight Service, Beverages, and Meals

Dependant on the flight, and type of aircraft, KLM offers a wide variety of food, beverage and entertainment options.

Economy Class offers entertainment options which vary according to flight and aircraft. Some flights show films and television programs on a large screen, whilst others have an interactive entertainment system on individual screens including movies, language courses, TV programs and audio channels. Food and beverage provision varies greatly depending on the destination and length of flight. On short flights snacks or light meals are served with a selection of hot and cold drinks, and on long flights hot meals are provided, along with a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Snacks are also available between meals.

In European Business Class (known as KLM Europe Select) entertainment is provided either on a large screen or individual screens, depending on the aircraft type. A meal tray consisting of either hot or cold dishes is provided, along with a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

In World Business Class, passengers have individual screens for the interactive entertainment system, which includes language courses, audio books, films, television programs and audio channels. Some flights also offer email facilities. Three course meals are served, with a selection of quality wines, and depending on the time of your flight, a la carte breakfasts are also provided. Snacks and alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are available throughout the flight.

KLM Fleet

KLM operates a fleet consisting mainly of Boeing airplanes. Their fleet consists of Boeing 737, 747 and 777, Airbus A330 and McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft.

KLM Lounge: KLM Crown Lounge

KLM Crown Lounges are fully operational in Amsterdam, Dubai, London, Toronto and Houston.
