It flies to about 50 destinations in the Americas and is a SkyTrax 3-star low cost airline. The airline is heaquartered in Florida and has a base in Fort Lauderdale, with Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, and Las Vegas as focus cities. Spirit Airlines is not part of an alliance. Spirit Airlines aircraft can be recognized by their blue tails, with accent colours representing the national colours of many of the Latin American and Caribbean countries they fly to.

Airport Counter Check-in: Check-in for your flight in the most conventional manner by stopping by the Spirit Airlines counter at the airport.
Next Day or Advance Check-in: This option allows you to save time and check-in for your flight up to 24 hours in advance of your departure time via the internet. To check-in online, visit Spirit Airlines online check-in page. After checking-in, you can print out your boarding pass and proceed directly to the security gates if you aren’t checking any baggage. If you have to check baggage be sure to stop by the Spirit Airlines counter. This service is only available for domestic flights.
Electronic Kiosk Check-in: For those who want to bypass the lines at the counter on busy travel days, Spirit Airlines offers check-in services for passengers via electronic kiosks. Typically, these kiosks contain Spirit Airlines signage on them and are located near the Spirit Airlines counter. This service is available at Atlanta, Atlantic City, Boston, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, LaGuardia, Myrtle Beach and Orlando.
Checked Luggage Restrictions for Spirit Airlines
Fees are charged for all baggage on Spirit Airlines. You are guaranteed availability for 1 item of checked baggage, not exceeding 18kg and with dimensions (L + W + H) not totaling more than 158 cm. Additional bags can be checked online in advance, or at the airport pending availability. The airline will not accept bags weighing more than 45 kg or exceeding 203 cm (80 linear inches.) Carry-On Baggage Restrictions for Spirit Airlines
You are allowed to carry 1 personal item on board at no extra charge. This item must fit beneath the seat and therefore cannot exceed 40 x 35 x 30 cm (16 x 14 x 12 inches.)
The following carry-on items are also not counted toward a customer's carry-on bag allowance and can be taken on all flights free of charge: umbrella, camera, infant diaper bag, assistive devices, outer garments (e.g. coats, hats, and wraps), stroller, reading material, and food for the flight.
