Going Home for the Holidays

Posted by Stephanie Spencer on November 2nd, 2011 @ 10:28 AM

Holiday merchandise has been creeping into the stores for weeks now. Just this weekend my neighbours turned on their Christmas lights for the first time.  It might seem frightfully early to think about the holidays, and while it’s a bit freakish to have finished your Christmas shopping already, it’s never too early to book holiday travel. Plus, airline tickets booked with us are covered by Price Drop Protection so you still come out on top if the price drops.

Over on our Facebook page, folks are discussing where they’d like to fly to be with family and friends during the holidays. Stop by and join in the conversation.

Canadians’ Dream Seat-Mates Revealed

Posted by Stephanie Spencer on October 6th, 2011 @ 9:46 PM

You can choose what seat you want on most airlines, but one thing that travellers have little control over is who sits next to them on a flight. We’ve all heard horror stories about rude, smelly, or otherwise unpleasant seat mates, but have you ever thought about who in the world you would choose to have sit next to you if you had your pick?

Celine DionPerhaps you participated in our recent poll, which asked travellers to choose which celebrity they would want to sit beside on an airplane. Well, the poll results are in and they’ve taken us all by surprise.

The most popular Canadian seat-mate is Celine Dion! Travellers must have the earth on their mind because David Suzuki turned out to be more popular travel companion than heartthrob Justin Bieber or funnyman Russell Peters.

Oprah WinfreyAmong American celebrities, the overwhelming favourite is Oprah Winfrey, whom 38.3% of participants chose to sit next to, while 19.5% opted for Obama.

Duchess of CambridgeThe Duchess of Cambridge is the most desirable international celeb seat-mate, surpassing even the Queen in popularity (awkward!), and trouncing comedian Russell Brand who landed at the bottom of the list (perhaps due to his penchant for pranks.)

The poll has captured the public imagination, with numerous media outlets commenting on the results and adding their own views on the most suitable celebrities for air travel fantasies. The Star’s Jim Byers opined about Lady Gaga, Prince Philip, and celebrity chefs, while Global TV commentators dream of sharing a row with both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.

So, who is your dream seat-mate? Leave a comment, or stop by our Facebook page and join the discussion.
