With
a spectacular view of a mountainous horizon, Almaty is a city filled with
history and surrounded by beauty. It is
Kazakhstan’s largest city and major commercial center despite losing its status
of being the capital. Best times weather-wise
to visit are April to May, and August to October when the weather is just
right. Over 1.3 million diverse people
call this metropolis home. The city
boasts lovely green spaces, beautifully lit fountains, and European feel
architecture. Live and breathe the
culture by going to Almaty’s excellent museums, theatre, and fine dining
experiences. The night life is alive and
vibrant with chic lounges, all night clubs and cafes. Take a plunge in an Arasan bath, get tickets
to a sporting event at the Central Stadium or take in a horse race at the
Hippodrome. Just outside the city enjoy
top notch ski resorts, visit the Sunkar Eagle Farm and see highly trained
birds, or take an adventure on one of the many hiking areas. If you like astronomy, or are curious about
the heavenly bodies above, be sure to stop in at the Tian Shan Astronomical
Observatory for a tour and peek at the stars.
