The city of Arcata, California sits on the Redwood coast that is famous for it ancient Redwood trees that can grow up to 370 feet tall. It is six hours north of San Francisco along the Pacific Ocean. Arcata is a typical “college town” half of the population being made up of students who attend Humboldt State University. The central Plaza is home to many students and residents with a large “hippie” gathering. It is a politically progressive city with limits on how many chain restaurants allowed. There are many restaurants, cafes, shops and live music venues for residents and travelers to enjoy.
