The national carrier, Air New Zealand has several direct Auckland flights from Vancouver every week, and passengers can also fly here with stopovers in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Sydney.

When to Go and Weather
Winters are a good time to get cheap airline tickets to Auckland. Although temperatures go down to the single digits (Celsius) between June and August, you can still spend plenty of time outdoors.
Auckland flights are most expensive in the summer between December and February, when visitors from the Northern Hemisphere leave their cold weather behind to enjoy the sun in New Zealand. During this time, temperatures can go well into the 30s and Auckland's harbour and beaches are packed with sailboats and sunbathers. Weather-wise, this is the best time to visit. However, if you want fewer crowds and cheaper airfares, travel to the city in spring or fall when the holiday buzz has receded.
Visitors can expect some amount of rain throughout the year, but these are lightest between September and May so visiting on either end of the peak season is also a good idea.

Arriving in Auckland
Auckland International Airport (AKL) has two main terminals, one each for domestic and international flights to Auckland. A free shuttle bus operates every 15 minutes between the two from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Passengers looking to stretch their legs after a long trip can also do the 10-minute walk to their connecting flights. For more information on any of the ground transportation options stated below, consult the airport's website.
Public Transit: The bright blue Airbus Express operated by Maxx Auckland Transport runs every 10 minutes between the airport and the city centre. Tickets can be bought on-board and cost approximately $13 CAD for a one-way trip. Maxx also operates bus services to other cities in the area such as Maukau, Botan, and Northshore. If you don't have a lot of luggage, this is by far the cheapest and most convenient way to get to the city.
Airport Shuttle: Super Shuttle offers shared-ride services from the airport and you can find stands for these outside the international terminal's arrival area as well as the domestic terminal's baggage area. Fares to downtown Auckland average $27 CAD for a one-way trip, with a charge of about $6 CAD for each additional passenger in the same group.
Hotel Shuttle: Some hotels offer their guests pick-up services from the airport. However, it is best to confirm in advance if this is a complimentary service as it might be cheaper to use the shuttle or bus services instead.
Taxi: Taxi stands are located in the same areas as the shuttle services and are available at all times. A one-way fare to the city centre will cost between $50-60 CAD, making this a considerably more expensive way to travel.
Car Rental: Rental car counters are located on the ground floor of the international terminal's arrival area and at the car park building near the domestic terminal. Companies with on-site services include Avis, Budget, and Hertz, while several others such as A2B Car Rentals, USave, and Go Rentals operate off-site rental facilities. Booking in advance is essential for the off-site companies as you will need a shuttle to transport you the car park areas.
Other: If you think limousines are as fancy as it gets when it comes to airport transport, Auckland will prove you wrong. For those with the sky as the limit as far as travel budgets are concerned, helicopter services are also available from AKL.
If you've booked a motorhome or campervan in advance, check to see if your rental company will arrange to have it delivered to the airport.
