Cheap Flights to Benbecula

The Isle of Benbecula is hidden between North and South Uist off the coast of Scotland.  At one time the islands were separate and only accessible during low tides but are now joined by a causeway.  Home to only 1800 people the area is actually quite heavily populated when considering its geographic size.  Despite its limited space of about 7 square miles, it is home to a rich sampling of historical sites such as Nunton, which is a beautiful medieval chapel and burial ground. Get a bird’s eye view from Rueval Hill, a short hike from anywhere on the island, that will allow you to see the whole surrounding area.  The central location of Benbecula makes it an ideal base for exploring and this is a good way to get a feel for what’s around.  A great place to immerse yourself in the local culture, you will find yourself dining, shopping and walking where the locals do business.  Unlike other areas that have separated areas for tourists and residents, here you will see what life is really like.  If you enjoy being part of the culture, several bed and breakfasts are a lovely way to get close to locals; or there are larger hotels if you prefer.  A selection of cozy cottages allows you freedom and unique experiences.  About two-thirds of the island is a meshing of fresh water lochs, moorland, bog and sea lochs while the rest of the island is rich grassland.  There is plenty to see and plenty to explore on this tiny, hidden treasure.
