Cranbrook Information
On the plains between the Purcell and Rocky Mountains lies Cranbrook, the sunniest city in BC. With more hours of sunshine a year than any other city in British Columbia, spend your time outdoors shooting par on one of the many golf courses in the area, or try fly-fishing from the banks of the Elk or St. Mary Rivers. With a population of approximately 18,500 people and another 16,000 people in the surrounding rural areas, this makes Cranbrook the largest city in the area and also makes them the natural supply centre of the East and West Kootenay.
Cranbrook is home to the Museum of Rail Travel which houses exhibits of passenger rail cars built in the 1920s for the CPR and in the 1900s for the Spokane International Railway. Take a trip back in town while you climb aboard the "Great Trains."
The cities healthy outdoor lifestyle is very attractive with golfing, skiing, boating, hiking, hunting and fishing with photography opportunities beyond compare! Visit Cranbrook and you'll be please with what they have to offer.
