Come
and experience Kenya s fastest growing town!
What started out as a Post Office in 1910 began to expand with the
arrival of the railway just outside of the area. It s name is a reminder of the colonial past
as the white settlers changed the name to Eldoret from the Massai s Eldare
because the former was easier to pronounce.
Eldoret is an administrative hub for the region and is about 300
kilometers northwest of Nairobi. It also
is home to Moi University which has a medical teaching program, the second one
in Kenya. It is also where many famous
Kenyan runners call home. The altitude
and climate make it an ideal training area for the sport. Many of those athletes have given back to
their community with their earnings from their success. While in Eldoret, take the time to visit the
widespread agricultural community outside the town. Experience farm life that helps sustain the
local community. After experiencing some
of the local culture and industry, book a safari and see the exciting wildlife
in Lake Nakuru National Park. You won t
be disappointed with what you ll see!
Within the town itself you will come across local artisans, cafes,
shops, restaurants and hotels.
