Mombasa
is located on the Kenyan Coast of the Indian Ocean. It is the country s second largest city, and
boasts having the largest port on the East Coast of Africa. This location made it a prime location in
history for trading. This also likely
contributed to the many takeovers of the city.
Mombasa is home to over seven hundred thousand residents, most of whom
are Muslim Mijikenda and Swahili people.
Mombasa is actually an island surrounded by the Tudor Creek and Port
Reitz. It is connected to the mainland
by the Nyali Bridge. Mombasa
experiences a warm tropical climate with rainy seasons in April and May. Make sure you visit Old Town and Fort Jesus to
experience the history and culture this city has to offer. Mombasa with its international airport makes
it a great entry point for travel into Kenya.
