Paderborn, Germany is a city in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia which is located in the heart of Germany, found midway between the Northern Lowlands and the mountainous central region.  The name Paderborn is derived from the river Pader which originates in more than 200 springs near Paderborn Cathedral.  10% of the local population are university students and another 7% are members and families of the British armed forces.

There are also several museums worthy of note in Paderborn.  The local tourist office can arrange guided tours of the City History Museum, the Municipal Gallery Am Abdinghof and the Historical and Nature Studies Museums.  Also be sure to visit the Westf lische Kammerspiele theatre for one of its diverse concert or theatre programmes.
