Paderborn, Germany is a city in
the state of North Rhine-Westphalia which is located in
the heart of Germany,
found midway
between the Northern Lowlands and the
mountainous central region. The name Paderborn is derived from
the river Pader which originates in more than 200
springs near Paderborn Cathedral. 10% of the local population are university
students and another 7% are members and families of the British armed forces.
Paderborn is home to many other
IT companies and industrial enterprises.

(steel/tube, automotive, trade), Claas (farm machines), and Deutsche Bahn AG (vehicle
maintenance).
There are many annual events and
festivals in Paderbonr to delight both locals and tourists alike. The largest of these is the 'Libori'
festival, which is ceremoniously heralded by the ringing of the Cathedral bells
throughout the last week of July. Other
festivals include the Lunapark Fair, the Spring Festival, the Paderborn shooting festival, and the idyllic
Christmas Market in front of the Cathedral.
There are also several museums worthy of
note in Paderborn. The local tourist office can arrange guided
tours of the City
History Museum, the Municipal Gallery Am Abdinghof and the Historical and Nature Studies
Museums. Also be sure to visit the Westf lische Kammerspiele theatre for one
of its diverse concert or theatre programmes.
