Overlooking the city on Cranbrook Hill, Prince George now houses the University of Northern British Columbia - which opened in September 1994, the lovely Civic Centre Plaza and also a multiplex CN Centre at the Exhibition Park known as BC's northern capital.
Wood drives the local economy. Chemical plants, oil refineries, brewery, dairy, machine shops and log home construction also bring jobs to the community. Local educational facilities include the University of Northern British Columbia and the College of New Caledonia.
