Situated in the south of Holland the city of Rotterdam and located just off of the coast of the river Nieuwe Maas. The name of the city comes from the dam in the Rotte muddy water river, and the dam was built in 1260 on the river bank. Rotterdam is home to Europe s largest and busiest ports, and is second busiest in the world after Shanghai.

Held in the centre of the city these festivities are influenced by the Caribbean style and the sights and activities are similar to that of a event that you might run into in Rio de Jan. Filled with colorful costumes and parades, this event is a must seen if you are traveling near Rotterdam in July.
