Booking Flights to Dallas

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is the main airport for flights to Dallas and is a hub for American Airlines. DFW is about 26 km away from the city centre and is served by airlines such as Air Tran, American, British Airways, Continental, Delta, United, US, and Virgin America. Air Canada has direct flights to Dallas from Toronto and you can connect with flights to destinations in Mexico, South America, and Europe from DFW.

When to Go and Weather

Spring and Fall are the most pleasant times to book Dallas flights, although there can be occasional thunderstorms. Summers are hot, with temperatures often going over 35°C. Winters are rarely very cold, and although there may be occasional snowfall, the temperature between December to February ranges between a mild 10-20°C. The peak Dallas travel periods are from March to May and during the school summer holidays, although cheap flights and hotels are scarce even in fall if there are conventions being held during this time. Winter is the low season but if you're planning to go on a shopping spree around the holidays, book well in advance as last-minute Christmas and New Year airfares are far from cheap.

Arriving in Dallas

Your Dallas flights will bring you to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), which is spread across five terminal buildings. Passengers on flights to Dallas with connections to make can travel between terminals on the Skylink train (within the airport's secured areas) or the Terminal Link bus (for areas outside the security checkpoints), both of which are free services. From the airport, you can use the following ground transportation options to make your way to the city.

The Trinity Railway Express (TRE) connects downtown Dallas and Fort Worth with the CentrePort/DFW Airport Station from Monday to Saturday. Passengers can board the free Remote South shuttle bus to get to the Remote South parking lot where another bus connects to the train station. After your flight lands, use the courtesy phones located in the baggage claim areas to contact your hotel or head straight to the pick-up areas located on the lower level of each terminal building.

Taxi: Taxi stands are on the upper level of Terminals A, B, C, and E and on the lower level of Terminal D. A dispatcher is available from 8:00 a.m. until midnight, after which you can call for a cab. Taxi fares are calculated at a flat rate of $40-45 USD to destinations within the Central Business Districts of Dallas and Fort Worth.

Car Rental: The airport's Rental Car Center is served by companies such as Avis, Advantage, Alamo, Thrifty, E-Z Rent-a-Car, and Enterprise. After disembarking from your flight, follow the rental car sign to the airport's lower level. A rental car shuttle bus departs every five minutes, taking passengers to the Center located 10 minutes away.
