Moncton is the second largest city in the Canadian province of New Brunswick with a Greater Moncton Region population of 125,000 and the city itself housing approximately 60,000 residents.

Moncton is named after Robert Monckton, the British military commander who captured Fort Beausejour in 1755 and who then oversaw the Acadian deportation. The city is at the geographic centre of the Maritime Provinces. Because of this, and also because Moncton has been the railway and transportation hub for the Maritime Provinces for years, the community has been nicknamed "Hub City".
