(TICO), offering financial protection to consumers in Ontario purchasing
travel.
TICO
The Travel Industry Council of Ontario is an organization mandated
by the Ontario Government to administer the Ontario Travel Industry
Act, 2002, which governs approximately 3,000 travel retailers and
travel wholesalers registered in Ontario. In addition, TICO administers
an industry-financed Travel Compensation Fund. Find out more about

BBB is an unbiased organization that sets and upholds high standards for fair and honest business behaviour. Businesses that earn BBB accredited business status contractually agree and adhere to the organization’s high standards of ethical business behaviour. BBB provides objective advice, free business Reliability Reports and charity Wise Giving Reports, and educational information on topics affecting marketplace trust. To further promote trust, BBB also offers complaint and dispute resolution support for consumers and businesses when there is difference in viewpoints. The first BBB was founded in 1912. Today, 128 BBBs serve communities across the U.S. and Canada, evaluating and monitoring more than 3 million local and national businesses and charities.
CLIA
Cruise Lines International Association is the world’s largest cruise association and is dedicated to the promotion and growth of the cruise industry. CLIA is composed of 23 of the major cruise lines serving North America and is an organization that operates pursuant to an agreement filed with the Federal Maritime Commission under the Shipping Act of 1984 and serves as a non-governmental consultative organization to the International Maritime Organization, an agency of the United Nations.
CLIA is consistently rated the most effective travel association in terms of overall support of the travel agency community, the value for the money, and the quality of its training programs. For example, CLIA's most comprehensive training is the Cruise Counsellor Certification Program, which requires agents to successfully complete a number of compulsory training courses and exams, attend cruise conferences and conduct ship inspections, among other things.
