From Belize City in the North to Panama City in the South, Central America is one of the world's most diverse regions, incorporating Pacific and Caribbean coastlines, marshlands, tropical forests, and an incredible amount of plant and wildlife species. Even better, there is a wide range of holiday choices available to accommodate every budget. If you want to plan a trip that's stress-free and cheap, all inclusive vacations to Central America are the best way to go. So even if you don't have a million dollars to spend on your holiday, you can still live out your childhood dreams in a Santa Clara treehouse hotel, enjoy an eco-tourism adventure in the cloud forests of Liberia, or live it up at one of Roatan's luxurious beach-front resorts. And that's only the tip of the proverbial iceberg — depending on what you're in the mood for, you can also book package deals that include your rental car, sightseeing tours, day-trip cruises, and so much more.
When you're shopping around for vacations, avoid package deals that include components you're probably not going to use. For example, a rental car is not necessary in a city which has great public transit, and all inclusive meals at your hotel will be a bit of a waste if you're keen on trying the food at local restaurants.
Some of the more popular tourist destinations like Costa Rica's San Jose and Playa Tambor get very crowded between February and May, especially around the Easter holidays. So plan your travels in the off-peak periods or in the shoulder seasons, when you may have to deal with rain, but the flights, hotels, and almost everything else are a lot less expensive.
Central America vacations get a lot cheaper during the rainy season, which occurs in slightly different months depending on which country you're travelling to. But unless you're ready to go sightseeing in the rain, and lots of it, it's better to pick another time to visit. For the rest of the year, between late-January and early-May is the best time to visit. This is when temperatures in most Central American countries average 25-32°C and sunbathers will enjoy lots of sunshine and warm weather.
Because of the tropical climate, it is quite humid for most of the year, but that should not deter you from booking your vacation. Just make sure you pack a lot of light, summer clothes and get going!
