Over 2,000 years several dynasties built, rebuilt and repaired the Great Wall of China. Originally built to deter invaders, the wall extends more than 21,000 km and attracts more than 10 million visitors per year. There are many sections of the Great Wall open to visitors and some are relatively easy to travel, while others can take you to some of the very steep sections and offer day long excursions.
