French Polynesia Islands

From sparkling lagoons, to world-class snorkeling and dive sites, the French Polynesia islands will overwhelm your senses in all the best ways. Because these islands lie in the heart of the South Pacific Ocean, a cruise is the best way to go. Begin your tropical voyage in the Tahitian town of Papeete, where you can float in the island’s turquoise lagoon, before boarding the ship that will carry you through the narrow Passe de Tiputa. Iconic Bora Bora is one of your first stops. This tiny island welcomes visitors with an awe-inspiring view of Mount Otemanu and offers legendary snorkeling, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboard opportunities in almost every direction.

While exploring these islands, you’ll delight in the exotic flora and fauna, which includes plantains and coconuts, tiger sharks and manta rays, the Orange-lined Triggerfish, and multiple varieties of Angelfish. In Raiatea and Tahaa you’ll find a wellspring of Polynesian cultural sites, a trip to a vanilla plantation, and more warm waters to glide through. The thrills amp up when you bike off the beaten path in Huahine, say yes to a renowned drift dive in the Tuamotu Archipelago, then dance to the tunes of local musicians on Ranguiroa. Although you won’t want to leave, the excursion will end back in Papeete.
