Spend 72 Hours in Vibrant Calgary

It is time for another trip to a cool bustling city. This time we are staying in Canada, as it is the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Calgary we will spend our next 72 hours. A city of skyscrapers, good food and many fun activities. So pack your bags, this is going to be great!

 

Day 1:

How about starting your trip by making sure you feel and look great for these next 72 hours? Start at Bronze Baxx Tanning. This is not just your average tanning studio as they also have an entire wellness side of their business with Cryotherapy and IV Therapy. They have a team of naturopathic doctors who work in their IV drip lounge. This will surely make you feel great to start your trip.

Another great way to start your trip is with a glorious meal. And you can get yourself one of those at Native Tongues. This restaurant has received many awards and been included in Calgary’s 10 Best Overall restaurants. In a rustic cantina feel you can relax while enjoying some great Mexican food and even begin your trip with a delicious tequila or mezcal.

Next up, we highly recommend a visit to The Military Museums Calgary. It is the second largest military museum in Canada that houses four regimental museums, branch-specific museums, an art gallery, and The Military Museums Library and Archives. This cool museum is representing Canada’s navy, army, and air force and it is dedicated to educating the public, particularly youth, about Canada’s military. This is a cool experience regardless of age.

After these first cool experiences in Calgary let’s wind down a bit and feel the joys of vacation time in Calgary. Go to Cold Garden Beverage Company. This is an awesome microbrewery with a casual vibe where you can try traditional and also more eccentric beers. The passion and love of craft beer is evident, and no doubt you will taste some of the absolute best craft beer in Calgary right here!

Let’s find a great spot for this first evening in Calgary. You will be going for drinks and some food in a quite unique place offering a different experience. You are going to Betty Lous Library which has been named Best Local Secret for Best of Calgary 2017. As you enter the hidden door you will feel as if you stepped back in time. Here you can sip delicious cocktails, socialize and eat some quality food while enjoying some live music or their burlesque on Wednesdays. Make sure to make a reservation!

 

Day 2:

Starting this second day with some culture. We have two galleries you should visit while in Calgary. Start out at Galleria Inglewood. Here you will find amazing stuff from more than 700 local and Canadian artisans, potters and artists. With 9000 square feet of gallery space you will have lots to look at and a great option to bring home some Canadian handcrafted artwork. Afterwards, go to Esker Foundation. This is a great contemporary art gallery with excellent exhibitions from groundbreaking artists. Currently they have a newly launched Fall exhibition, and the admission is completely free.

Next up, something uniquely different that most people might not experience when in the Calgary area, Aspen crossing. This train themed destination offers fun for the entire family. It started as a tree farm and nursery, but it is now a major tourist destination. You can try the excursion train, have fun in their escape rooms or visit the nursery and gift shop as well as try the great food on site. This will be a very fun experience!

If you are traveling with kids another fun spot to check out is Youthlink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre. If you are interested in learning more about policing and police service you will have so much fun here. They have high-tech interactive exhibits, and you will learn about crime preventions in a fun way.

After such an eventful day it is time to treat the thirsty adults in the family. Go to Bottlescrew Bills and Buzzards Pub & Restaurant. They have the largest beer selection in Calgary with over 350 beers from around the world. Located right in downtown Calgary with four outdoor patios that can be covered and heated meaning you can enjoy them year around. Time to have fun and relax with a cold beer!

 

Day 3:

Last day in Calgary. Let’s make it count! Start at the Founder’s Gallery. The Founders’ Gallery at The Military Museums in Calgary. It is a public exhibition space with the goal of contributing to Canadians understanding of their military experience by displaying historic and contemporary works of art and related artifacts. This 4,000 square foot gallery space has a minimum of four exhibitions a year.

When in Calgary you should also visit TELUS Spark. Especially their Dome theatre will be tons of fun for the entire family. They have live planetarium shows and movies. Also often events happening so do make sure to check their calendar for your visit in Calgary. They also have happenings just for adults.

A little sweet to top off this day’s events. Find Ollia Macarons & Tea. In this amazingly cute little store you will find some absolutely delicious macarons. Go here for a sweet treat or to bring some home form your time in Calgary. You can also buy great specialty tea ,and they even have some classes taking place so stop by to see what is going on while you are in town.

If you are more into chocolate though you absolutely must stop by Chocolate Lab. This is unlike any other chocolate experience. Using the finest and freshest ingredients these both delicious and gorgeous chocolates are created by hand in the same tradition as the world’s finest chocolatiers. This is the perfect gift to bring home for yourself or a loved one!

For dinner tonight you will also try something a little different. You will have drinks and dinner at Cannibale. Not only is it a fully functioning, single chair barbershop, but it is also a cocktail bar that serves creative and locally sourced food. So head here for a shave, a delicious cocktail or craft beer and a tasty, hot sandwich.

To really leave Calgary with a bang we couldn’t think of a better place to go than Cowboys Night Club. This is without a doubt the place to go for a fun party in Calgary. It is a place to see and be seen. Especially if you are in Calgary on a Friday they have the so-called Legendary Friday Yardy Parties taking place! You cannot miss out on this!

Calgary is certainly up there as one of the greatest cities in Canada. With so much to do 72 hours will hardly be enough so make sure to return soon!
