Orlando has become synonymous with Mickey Mouse and his motley crew of adorable mascots who make their home at Walt Disney World, more specifically the Magic Kingdom. Before you start planning your Orlando vacation, however, you may find this little tidbit of information interesting: the Magic Kingdom isn’t the number one attraction, in fact, travelers on TripAdvisor put it at #13. Curious about what beat out the world famous theme park? Well, wonder no longer. We’ve laid out seven things to do in Orlando that ranked higher than visiting the Magic Kingdom, and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised about the fun waiting for you on your next visit to Orlando.

La Nouba – Cirque du Soleil

This dazzling circus spectacle is performed by Cirque du Soleil at the Downtown Disney in a theater built specifically for La Nouba. The show features an international cast of acrobats, athletes and performance artists that mesmerize audiences with their graceful feats.

Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine

The catholic church was built in the 1980s, so that the large number of visitors to the Orlando region would have a place to attend church. The 2,000 seat church was declared a minor basilica in 2009 by Pope Benedict XVI due to its ministry, which has attracted more than 500 million pilgrims and tourists.

Discovery Cove is a reservations-only, all-inclusive park that keeps its attendance to about 1,300 visitors per day. Because the park has fewer guests, it is able to provide unique experiences, like dolphin encounters, snorkeling with tropical fish and rays, and hand-feeding parrots, toucans, and other exotic birds in the park’s Explorer’s Aviary.

Fantasmic!

Held at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater at Disney-MGM, this live Disney production is the perfect combination of Walt Disney’s loveable characters, actors and explosive fireworks.

Mama’s Comedy Show

Word on the street is that this comedy show is like a “Whose Line is it Anyways”for adults. Mama’s Comedy Show is a grown-up affair, offering a hilarious night of comedy.

iFly Orlando

Did someone say indoor skydiving? That’s exactly what iFly Orlando offers its visitors. Vacationers can experience true free-fall conditions, just like skydiving, without having to jump out of an airplane. iFly’s vertical wind tunnel creates a wall-to-wall cushion of air on which you can safely float, so there’s no need for a parachute. In the wind tunnel it is just you and the air. iFly Orlando doesn’t require any experience and is recommended for ages 3 and up.
