When compared with most of its Central American neighbours, vacations to Honduras are cheap to begin with. But why turn down the offer to get them even cheaper if you can? The country lags behind on the tourist destination scale, but only because it is not as well-known as Costa Rica or Belize. So make your way to Honduras before everyone else catches on and, with an all inclusive package deal, enjoy the luxury of cheap hotels, uncrowded beaches, unbelievably well-preserved Mayan ruins, and spectacular marine life.
Anyone who likes the outdoors should not think twice about grabbing a cheap vacation to Honduras. The sheer range of activities which includes snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, rafting, hiking, para-sailing, and bird watching, to name just a few, will have you wondering how on earth you're going to fit all you want to see and do into just one holiday. But whether you go hunting for history in Copán, explore the local Garifuna culture on the Cayos Cochinos and Roatan islands, or stick closer to urbanity in Comayagua and La Ceiba, Honduras vacations will leave you really glad you decided to visit, and perhaps have you coming back for more.
By booking all inclusive Honduras vacations, you've already saved in a big way on your travel budget because hotels, outdoor activities, and restaurants are much cheaper here than in most other Central American countries. But if you want to see the savings continue, employ a few easy tips like going local over imports. For example, do like the Hondurans do and drink local beer and rum instead of foreign liquor, which is much more expensive. Besides putting away a few extra dollars for another dive trip, you will also get a taste of the home-grown flavours.
In addition, a little advance planning will help you steer clear of booking package deals during Carnival or other local festivals, when hotels, restaurants, and tour organizers generously bump up their prices. Book a week before or after, and see for yourself the difference in prices.
Honduras has quite a varied geography, and temperatures can differ up to 15°C between the coast and the mountains. Even the rainfall is affected by location and the rains are heaviest on the Caribbean coast from September to February while in the interiors, the season lasts from May to November. Humidity levels may be higher on the coast, but quite bearable and although hurricanes don't hit the country often, it is always worth checking the weather forecast before you travel.
If you're not sure which part of the country you will be spending most of your time in, plan your vacation for the period between February and April, which is Honduras' dry season. But wet or dry, the country is beautiful. So just dress for the weather and dive right in.
