Munich Vacation Guide

Crowds have gathered in Munich every fall for hundreds of years to enjoy annual Oktoberfest celebration where beer is sold by the litre and downed with enthusiasm by the young and old alike. Even if you can't book all inclusive vacations to Munich to coincide with this boisterous event, there are biergartens and bars aplenty where you can enjoy the city's great atmosphere and brews throughout the year.

For all its appearance as an old German town, Munich is as modern a city as they come and is home to some of the country's top IT companies as well as world-famous BMW. So while you can spend your days visiting 12th-Century churches, touring royal palaces, and learning all about Bavarian history at the city's museums, you can also party at nightclubs catering to a wide variety of music preferences or drop in on local galleries to check out the city's modern art scene. If you're looking for entertainment options on a budget, you'll easily find cheap tickets for theatre performances or meal deals at small restaurants and cafes where there is usually a live music performance on as well. If you're booking winter vacations to Munich, don't miss out on an evening stroll through the city's Christmas markets where you can enjoy a warm cup of gluhwein along with some hearty Bavarian sausages and bread.

When to Go and Weather

All inclusive Munich vacations are cheapest in the winter, except for the weeks around Christmas and New Year's. If this is when you're visiting, dress in warm clothing, as temperatures often drop below freezing and you might also have to deal with some snow and rain. Summertime temperatures can go up to 23-24°C, making this the warmest time to visit the city. However, this period, along with the month of October, constitute Munich's peak travel seasons when prices for everything including flights and hotels are at their highest.

To get cheaper deals on package vacations, especially if you're booking at the last minute, visit Munich between March and May when temperatures start to rise but the city isn't packed with summer tourists yet.
