Ocho Rios Vacation Guide
You don't have to be on Her Majesty's secret service to get to the sunny shores of James Bond Beach. A FlightNetwork® vacation deal will do the trick just as well and get you to Ocho Rios' lively beaches, bustling downtown area, and picturesque natural beauty in just a few clicks.
As a popular port of call for cruise ships and home to dozens of all inclusive resorts, Ocho Rios is the perfect choice for a Jamaican vacation where you're at the beach, but not too far from civilization if you want a change of pace. Besides the beach named after Ian Fleming's famous character, there are loads of other attractions around Ocho Rios and you can visit Bob Marley's birthplace at Nine Mile in St. Ann's Bay, hike up the slippery slopes of Dunn's River Falls, or jump in to the cove to swim with dolphins. After considering the seashore, rainforests, and waterfalls, it's unlikely that you will need much more convincing to book vacations to Ocho Rios. But just in case, consider the fantastic local restaurants like Scotchies which serve up a mean Jamaican jerk and hellfire sauce meal, and the exciting Ocho Rios Jazz Festival which attracts the best in the music business and thousands of jazz fans from across the world.
Unlike some of its beachfront competitors, Ocho Rios receives an average of only two or three inches of rain per month. Combined with its beautifully warm weather which ranges between 23-28 °C in winter and stays in the low to mid-30s in the summer, this seaside town is a good place to visit at almost any time of year. Discount package deals and last minute specials are offered en masse by all inclusive resorts in the hurricane season which extends from June to November, but since Jamaica rarely experiences direct hits, this is a good time to get discounts and book Ocho Rios vacations at their cheapest.
The peak tourist season in Ocho Rios is in the winter, but keep in mind that this is also an extremely popular cruise ship port of call and, for most of the year, you can expect to see ship after ship docking for the day, filling the town with tourists eager to see what they can in a five-hour stop. To avoid the crowds, rains, and peak-season prices, visit in the shoulder seasons from mid-November to mid-December or from the end of March to May.
