Shela beach on Lamu island is best reached by air either directly from Mombasa which is a 267 km or 5 hour drive. You can fly from nearby countries such as Tanzania, Somalia, Uganda and Ethiopia and you will find direct flights to Mombasa with Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and South African Airlines. International carriers are United Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa.
