Redang Beach

Malaysia’s Redang Island is known for its white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and the tropical fish that surround some of the world’s best snorkeling reefs. Most of the accommodations on this postcard-worthy island are sumptuous resorts, which allow you to enjoy the ultimate tropical escape in an area that feels completely private at times. Visit the area when school is in session, and you may have the beaches at the north end of the island entirely to yourself.

Getting there

To reach Redang Island, visitors must take the one-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu. The journey then continues by boat, and the main jetty can be found at Merang, roughly 30 kilometers north of Kuala Terengganu. The boat trip is comfortable, affordable, and takes just 40 minutes to complete. During the busy season from March to October, ferries travel directly from the Shahbandar Jetty in Kuala Terengganu to the Berjaya Jetty on southern Redang Island. Flights to Kuala Lumpur are easily available from popular destinations including Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Calgary, Las Vegas, Montreal and many more.
