Located on the northeastern coast of Brazil, Lençóis Maranhenses national park is one of the most unique beaches and natural wonders of the world. While the park includes 70km of coastline, it’s the inland lagoons in the rainy season which you’ll want to visit. As the park’s famous rolling dunes fill with water, they create the most beautiful freshwater pools. It’s one of the most awe-inspiring views our planet has to offer — the pools ranging from clear turquoise to deep green as the pools get deeper. It takes quite some time and planning to get here, so once you do, stay a few days to explore it all.
The best option would be to fly to Sao Luis and then transfer by land. The nearest major domestic airport to Atins and Lençóis Maranhenses is São Luís (SLZ). The closest international airports are in Fortaleza (FRO), Belem (BEL) or Natal (NAT), Brazil from where you can fly on to São Luís.
